Background of the project
Rödeby Kraft AB, a local electricity power producer company in southeastern Sweden with a proud history dating back to 1927, took a significant step toward energy innovation by exploring the potential of battery storage. The company’s CEO, Olof Hjelm Petersson, was particularly driven by the goals of green transition and energy storage, which led to a partnership with Voltic Group AB to initiate this pilot project.
The Battery Solution
The technical solution for Rödeby Kraft AB was carefully designed to meet their specific needs, focusing on scalability for future growth. Battery modules were installed in a 10-foot container near the substation, allowing for easy outdoor placement and connection to the grid. The system currently operates at 125 kW and 158 kWh, with the flexibility to expand to 250 kW by adding more battery modules. This scalability ensures that Rödeby Kraft AB can increase its energy capacity as demand grows.
Though the project faced some minor hurdles, the pilot was ultimately a success. Mathias Lindberg, CEO of Voltic Group AB, emphasized the importance of detailed planning, strong partnerships, and adaptability in managing complex projects.
“Big projects can be daunting, but by covering every detail and making sure the customer’s needs were fully met, we achieved a great result. We did face a few minor challenges, but they provided valuable lessons for future installations,” Mathias explains.
